AC Milan targets Liverpool’s Divock Origi ahead of a free transfer this summer
AC Milan are targeting Liverpool striker Divock Origi who is available on a free transfer this summer when his contract expires. The 26-year-old Belgian striker has spent eight years as a backup striking option at Merseyside and is ready to walk away this summer. The Rossoneri are pursuing the former Lille man’s signature alongside other Premier League clubs, but the Serie A team is ahead of the pack. Despite just 40 goals in 171 games, Origi has written his name in Anfield folklore with some important goals and performances.
While he has scored five goals and assisted three more in 14 appearances for the club this campaign, he has fallen even further down the pecking order with the arrival of Luis Diaz. Origi was an unused substitute as Liverpool beat Nottingham Forest 1-0 on Sunday evening. Harvey Elliott started ahead of him in the attack. Both Luis Diaz and Takumi Minamino came off the bench.
Stefano Pioli will love to take the Belgian international away from Jurgen Klopp. The German boss now has an array of options for his forward line. Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Olivier Giroud are aging and the club needs fresher legs leading the line.
