Ajax boss Erik Ten Hag has held positive talks with Manchester United to fill the managerial position when Ralf Rangnick leaves
Manchester United have held “positive” talks with Ajax coach Erik ten Hag about their vacant head coach job at Old Trafford according to several reports. The reports also confirmed that during the meeting, the Ajax boss wanted to hear about Manchester United‘s budget and plans for the future. They also claim his English level has now improved and he feels ready to try the Premier League soon. The United authorities are also thought to have been impressed with his vision for the club. United’s good relations with Ajax (Edwin van der Sar is CEO) allowed talks to happen with Ten Hag even though he’s under contract until next summer. United need a new boss this summer when Ralf Rangnick ascends to Sporting Director
Under Erik Ten Hag this season, Ajax have scored 118 goals and only conceded 28 while boasting a 77% win rate. They sit first in the Eredivisie. Despite a shock UEFA Champions League loss to Benfica, Ajax are still on course for another memorable campaign. ETH has picked up five domestic titles since assuming the head coach position at the Amsterdam based club in 2017, including two league titles that should be three come May. United wanted Thomas Tuchel but that dream is dead and buried despite the uncertainty at Chelsea. Mauricio Pochettinomay dream of a return to the EPL but his PSG situation remains very complicated with the club hierarchy in utter disarray. Other options like Julen Lopetegui & Luis Enrique are also being discussed.
