Antonio Rüdiger set to leave Chelsea this Summer as Real Madrid close in on a free transfer for the German Defender

According to Gianluca DiMarzio, Antonio Rudiger will leave Chelsea this summer when his contract expires, and Real Madridare pushing to sign him. Fresh from one blockbuster free defensive signing last season, Los Blancos want to take advantage of theuncertainty at Chelsea to sign the 29-year-old. They looked like they had pulled out of a deal to sign Rudiger earlier after balking at his demands, but latest reports say they are back in the chase.

The German international has become one of the best defenders in the world since Thomas Tuchel took over the London club. Rudiger was once frozen out of the squad under Frank Lampard. He was set to be sold, but he turned the tide. He is one of the best and most consistent central defenders in the game right now. Florentino Perez and Carlo Ancelotti have their eyes on the former Stuttgart and AS Roma defender. Rudiger will be a stellar addition to David Alaba, Eder Militao, and Nacho Fernández.

In 2017, Chelsea signed Rudiger for £29million on a five-year contract at Stamford Bridge. That deal will soon expire, and he is expected to leave the club as a free agent at the end of the season. The change of ownership has not given the club the time to negotiate new contracts with so much uncertainty around the future. This is the perfect opportunity for Real to snap.
