Bayer Leverkusen sign Iranian forward Sardar Azmoun from Zenit St. Petersburg on a 5-year deal - he will join B04 at the end of the season
Iranian striker Sardar Azmoun has joined Bayer Leverkusen on a 5-year deal, and he will join up with the Bundesliga team when his contract with Zenit St. Petersburg expires this summer. He looked close to joining AC Milan and Lyon at different points, but Die Werkself have signed the 27-year-old to a pre-contract.
Azmoun made his name in Russia playing for FK Rostov and Rubin Kazan before joining Zenit in February 2019. This season, he has scored 10 goals and assisted four more in 21 matches in all competitions. He has 62 goals and 23 assists in 104 appearances for the club. Azmoun made his debut for the Iranian national team in 2014 at 19. He has played 60 games, scored 39 goals, and assisted seven more.
