Bayern Munich add Jurrien Timber to their list of Ajax transfer targets
According to Sport Bild’s Christian Falk, Bayern Munich are interested in Ajax’s central defensive star Jurrien Timber. The 20-year-old has been classy, breaking through under Manchester United bound Erik Ten Hag, and his exploits have invited the attention of the Bundesliga champions. He becomes the fifth Ajax player to have been strongly linked with a move to Bayern this summer. Noussair Mazraoui, Sebastien Haller, Antony, and Ryan Gravenberch have been linked with moves to Die Rekordmeister.
The center-back is adept at moving the ball forward, whether by passing or carrying. He is one of the best around at that. The Jong Ajax graduate is good at building out from the back even though he takes risks. Jurrien is not the tallest, he can struggle with aerial duels, but he is a master of making timely blocks. Jurrien Timber knows where to be at the right time, and he has good 1v1 skills.
With his 5ft9 frame, he is physically a big difference from the hulking Niklas Sule, who is off to Borussia Dortmund, but there’s something attractive about his style. He is a modern-day cerebral defender who reads danger well and cuts things off. There are also reports linking Jurrien Timber with a move to Manchester United, but it will be best for him to build on this campaign and develop his game further. Can Julian Nagelsmann give him a place in his team? Maybe. But, he’ll get ample time at Ajax to learn.
