Borussia Dortmund set to continue transfer spree with €12 million move for Ramy Bensebaini of Monchengladbach
According to Sport Bild, Borussia Dortmund is chasing a new left-back with Nico Schulz and Raphael Guerreiro set to leave this summer and Borussia Monchengladbach’s Ramy Bensebaini is their main target. The 26-year-old Algerian left-back has been a key figure for the foals since arriving from Rennes in 2019. Gladbach want more than the €12 million BVB is offering right now, even though Bensebaini has one year left on his current deal. This looks like a deal that will be done despite BMG’s new director of sport claiming they have not received an offer yet.
BVB have already signed Nico Schlotterbeck and Niklas Sule while in the final stretch of negotiations for Karim Adeyemi. Bensebaini will be another superb addition as they look to repair their wretched backline. He has scored 18 goals and assisted seven more in 81 appearances for Gladbach. Bensebaini is defensively sound and this will be a huge advantage for that position that has looked leaky for years. He ranks well for aerial and ground duels (one of the best amongst full-backs actually). While he is not the most offensive full-back, he gets in on the goals. The 6ft2 man is blessed with a cultured left foot. He can also play on the left side of a back three. Marco Rose worked with the Algerian international in the past two campaigns and wants to reunite with him at Dortmund.
