From Pitch to Poses: Virgil Van Dijk Scores a Fashion win with Vogue Debut
“…don’t tell me that you model if you ain’t been in Vogue” these are the lines Liverpool Dutchman Virgil Van Dijk, will undoubtedly tease his teammates with when next together in the locker room. As he just made his editorial modelling debut for Danish outerwear brand Rains in the February/March issue of Vogue Scandinavia.
The shoot also features Rains co-founders Philip Lotko and Daniel Brix, at the Brand’s request it was said that Virgil was readily available to pose for the camera, the Liverpool captain used his rare day off for the shoot in England where he is based.
According to one of the founders, “Virgil represents a lot of good values and one I see in us..” he is a leader on and off the pitch, a family man trying to be the best in what he is doing. To be able to work with Virgil because of the common values we share is a huge and honorable achievement”
In a conversation with Vogue, where he emphasized why he believes Rains is a perfect match and why they easily connect, the Liverpool captain remarked that he has always admired how well the products fit. He further emphasized the significance of design for footballers off the pitch and expressed his affection for non-branded visuals, making collaborating with Rains a significant opportunity.
The collaboration between footballers and fashion brands, with players strutting down the runways, isn’t merely a passing trend; it’s a phenomenon that’s set to endure, as seen recently with the likes of Trent Arnold, Son, Saka, and numerous others.
