Giacomo Raspadori close to joining Napoli from Sassuolo
Sassuolo’s Giacomo Raspadori is close to joining Napoli this summer according to Gianluca DiMarzio. Both teams are closer than ever to agreeing on a deal for the transfer.
Sassuolo want around €40 million plus a future resale clause for Raspadori. They rejected a €30 million offer from the Partenopei already.
Both sides are now close to finding common ground for the transfer to go through.
Following the departures of Kalidou Koulibaly, Dries Mertens, Lorenzo Insigne, and Faouzi Ghoulam, Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis has moved swiftly to plug those holes.
He has signed Leo Ostigard and Kim Min-Jae to replace Kouliably, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia for Insigne, Mathias Olivera for Ghoulam. The only one who has not been replaced is Mertens.
The Belgian left Napoli this summer after nine years in which he overtook Diego Maradona to become the club’s all-time top scorer. Raspadori is a like-for-like replacement for the former PSV Eindhoven man.
The Italian international, just like Mertens, can play in any of the forward positions and do it effectively. Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti views Raspadori as a tactical solution.
