Juventus agree blockbuster €84m deal to sign Dušan Vlahović from Fiorentina this window
Juventus have agreed on a deal to sign Dušan Vlahović from Serie A rivals Fiorentina for €84m with personal terms being worked on. The Serbian striker has snubbed interest from Atletico Madrid, Arsenal, and Tottenham to join the Bianconeri this transfer window. If the deal goes through, it will become the biggest transfer fee spent in January by an Italian club, eclipsing the 38.4 million that AC Milan spent on Lucas Paqueta. The transfer also means Juve will drop their interest in Sassuolo hitman Gianluca Scamacca.
Despite a tepid first season-and-a-half that saw him score only six league goals in 30 appearances for Fiorentina, Vlahović exploded to life in the 20/21 season with 21 league goals. This season he already has 17 goals in 21 appearances and he is one of the leading candidates for the top scorer title. Juventus and Max Allegri need a clinical striker and they have signed one. This will allow the unclinical Alvaro Morata to get that transfer move to Barcelona that was mooted earlier in the window. Juventus rank 10th for goals scored in Serie A this campaign. They need goals to remedy those numbers although some will argue that they need more creativity to create better chances.
