Kylian Mbappe opts for PSG ahead of Real Madrid delivering massive blow to Florentino Perez’s summer plans
Is Mbappe going to Real Madrid ? the answer is No! as the 23 year old has decided to stay at PSG after looking like he will move to La Liga champions Real Madrid for most of the season. The Paris-born attacker will remain at the Parc des Princes and receive significant boardroom power. There are rumors that the 23-year-old will help decide the next sporting director and head coach after signing a new three-year deal. Leonardo and Mauricio Pochettino look set to move on while Nasser Al-Khelaifi stays.
Mbappe will stay with his boyhood club and can now break Edinson Cavani’s top scorer record in the French capital. The former AS Monaco man already has a staggering 255 goal contributions for PSG in only 216 games. Mbappe has 36 goals and 26 assists this season, pulling his top-heavy team to the Ligue 1 title. His efforts weren’t enough to get PSG past Real Madrid, but the French club will be able to gloat with this contract renewal. Real Madrid journalists and fans acted like this was a done deal, and this has a ring of Schadenfreude to it.
The news must have left a bitter taste in the mouth of Florentino Perez, who gave up on Erling Haaland to focus on signing the French international. Mbappe will announce his decision after the game against Metz. Real Madrid has now failed with multiple attempts to sign Mbappe. The first time, when he moved to PSG, then last summer, and last winter. It is not all great for PSG though. For a squad that has struggled with player power issues, giving more power to this one guy is not a smart strategy.
Trust Carlo Ancelotti to manage his squad. Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo Goes are incredible attacking talents in their arsenal, and they can still add more firepower. Karim Benzema is still around, and Luka Modric is about to renew. Real Madrid will be fine.
