Lionel Messi unhappy at French media criticism but happy to continue at PSG
Paris Saint-Germain forward, Lionel Messi, has decided to stay at the club despite the massive scrutiny surrounding his performances for the French Ligue 1 giants, according to Le Parisien

According to reports in France, PSG forward Lionel Messi is unhappy at the criticism he has faced in the French media after scoring only two goals in Ligue 1 so far. The 34-year-old has not lived up to his billing in France despite lodging 10 assists. Messi has missed 10 big chances and that ratio is poor for a player who has been one of the best finishers of the past decade. The Argentine joined the French club from Barcelona on a free transfer during the summer when the Blaugrana couldn’t afford to renew his contract. His early form was respectable, but not quite the otherworldly level we have come to expect.

It is not surprising that they have laid into him. Paris Saint-Germain is the biggest club brand in France right now, so it is only normal they will receive extra scrutiny in the press. Messi has not publicly voiced any frustration though. He also enjoys a decent relationship with Mauricio Pochettino. The reports state that he is happy to continue his journey with the club. They say he has already decided to stay at the Parc des Princes next season despite rumors about another summer move. So no alarm bells… yet.

On Saturday, Lionel Messi made his 10th assist of the Ligue 1 season, this is now his 15th consecutive season of double-digit assists.
