OFFICIAL: Goncalo Guedes joins Wolves for €30 million from Valencia
Valencia have announced the sale of Portuguese attacker Goncalo Guedes to Wolves for €30 million plus add-ons. The 25-year-old Portugal international will fly in for a medical today before signing a long-term deal.
Guedes will join international teammates like Ruben Neves, Nelson Semedo, and Joao Moutinho. His new coach Bruno Lage is also from Portugal.
Guedes was a long-term target for Wolves, who want to improve their options in attack. He can play as a winger or second striker, with Wolves keen to bring in two forwards this week.
Guedes is represented by Jorge Mendes, a big player in Wolves and Valencia’s transfer dealings, and this deal has his blueprint all over it.
Guedes has scored 36 goals and assisted 30 more in his 176 appearances for Valencia. He will be Wolves’ third signing of the summer following the arrival of Nathan Collins and Hee-chan Hwang.
Wolves lost their opening game of the season 2-1 away at Leeds United, despite going ahead through Daniel Podence’s early goal. Wolves will face Fulham on Saturday, and they will be hoping that Guedes is ready.
