OFFICIAL: Ousmane Dembele re-signs for Barcelona on a two-year deal until 2024
Ousmane Dembele was on the verge of leaving Camp Nou but has now penned a new two-year deal with the club

French attacker Ousmane Dembele has re-signed for Barcelona on a fresh two-year contract that runs till 2024. The ambidextrous winger looked set to leave the club on a free transfer some months ago, but has now opted to stay at the Catalan club, and on reduced wages too. Joan Laporta has done a solid job of keeping the World Cup-winning attacker and adding Raphinha from Leeds United this summer. Despite the club struggling with dilapidating finances, they have continued to make signings as it were.

Dembele topped La Liga assist charts last season with 13 as he experienced a rejuvenation under Xavi. He did make it clear that Barcelona was his priority was staying at Barcelona, but his demands were deemed too much. It is surprising that he has signed on to an even smaller salary. For now, the 25-year-old will continue at the club he has been at for five years since joining from Borussia Dortmund.

Dembele was spotted in the Barcelona dressing room as Barcelona started their preseason friendlies with a tie against Olot yesterday. They drew 1-1. Congratulations to Dembele on the new contract!
