OGC Nice set to sign Kasper Schmeichel and Aaron Ramsey
OGC Nice are closing in on a deal for Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel for a transfer worth €1m according to Foot Mercato.
The 36-year-old will sign a three-year contract with the INEOS-led club after negotiations. The Danish goalkeeper has been with the Foxes since 2011, even becoming their captain along the line.
He captained them to the 2020/21 FA Cup title and was part of the 2015/16 that won the Premier League. This season was not the best for the Danish keeper and he has decided to call time on his stay in the Premier League.
Scmeichel leaves the King Power Stadium a legend. He will replace Walter Benitez, who left OGC Nice to join PSV Eindhoven.
Nice are also pushing to sign Aaron Ramsey who is a free agent after leaving Juventus. The club is close to sealing a deal for the Welshman.
The 31-year-old has been underwhelming since joining Juventus due to injuries and adaptation issues. A loan to Rangers FC did not go according to plan as he missed the penalty that lost them the Europa League title.
The former Arsenal man will try and repair his reputation in France after verbally agreeing a deal to join OGC Nice. He will be hoping to recover some form before the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
